Last night we attended the GUESS launch party for their new Festival Collection, bringing back nostalgic designs and pairing it with 2013 spring fashion trends. The event was at their high-ceilinged, two-storey GUESS store on Queen Street West in Toronto.

First Impressions

Approaching the glass branded GUESS building on busy Queen Street West, the transparent doors opened to a wide and tall space with white coloured walls and floors refocused your eyes to look towards the sky-patterned backgrounds and brightly coloured clothing. We were greeted and grabbed the first GUESS branded lemonade we could find. Have to stay hydrated, there was a lot of mingling to do.

Last night we were cordially invited to attend Gc’s Moment of Smart Luxury event at the beautiful TIFF Bell Lightbox, located in downtown Toronto on the sixth floor looking down to the bustling night life of King Street West.

Some new and marketed GC Swiss Made Timepieces were being showcased as guests filled the space, surrounded by watches, food, wine, and more to keep them entertained and mingling.

When walking into The Windsor Arms Hotel, it had a nice charm, a grace to it, and even though it was early in the night, you knew that the event was going to be incorporating design, class and style. Last night we went to Muzik‎ in Toronto to experience the new Grey Goose Lounge. The event seemed completely opposite than the Grey Goose Cherry Noir event, but the different vibe was a nice change!

Muzik is a massive. The venue was able to fit more than enough people and brought lots of different personalities from the world of television, blogging, fashion, and entertainment.

The event started at 6pm with people coming later after probably ditching their after-work attire. For the people who just had time to change clothes, Grey Goose and Muzik had a hair styling salon situated from one of the bars that made sure everyone going into the salon looked great coming out.

The Canadian International Auto Show is a way for carmakers to reveal their latest and greatest designs to anxious automotive enthusiasts for an entire week. The Metro Toronto Convention Centre holds everything in place as thousands of fans and new visitors hit the display floors.

Each display seemed to be more elaborate than the last, with huge, overhanging branded displays filling the floor space and brought to new heights. In some cases it was a battle for the biggest display!

Have you ever felt attached or drawn to a colour and you don’t know why?

When it comes to branding, logo design and colours are key. Colours make your brand more recognizable and more lively. Our brand colours are black and white, with the orange as a secondary colour.

When the magazine started, it was silver, and we didn’t it find it to be the best colour. There wasn’t enough personality to it, there wasn’t enough edge.

So when we went through the development of LXRY and rebrand of the logo, we wanted a strong colour. Something that provided a recognizable flare but also provided an approachable feel and edge. So, we went with orange!

We didn’t want to over-intensify our brand with a strong red, but we found blue to be too soft. We wanted something like a sports car, we wanted something …
