Chile’s Viña Tarapacá Has Two Deep Red Wines Perfect For A Dinner Party
Good dinner parties are the best, aren’t they?
They give you a chance to socialize, relax, and spend time conversing and catching up with loved ones, people in the business or friends you haven’t seen in a while.
I enjoy every time iYellow Living has a dinner party because they are beautiful hosts of an evening to remember, with beautiful wines from different countries providing the foundation for the evening.
This wine, in particular, Viña Tarapacá, is a Chilean winemaker that has brought two new reds to the table. Two Gran Reserva red wines to be exact.
One is a Carmenére, the other is a Cabernet Sauvignon, both deep in flavour.
The Viña Tarapacá Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
This one has more complexity than the Carmenére, it’s about 7 years in the making. It uses vines that were planted 7 years ago. It’s aged for 10 months in used barrels and has about 5% of Cabernet Franc in it.
It’s both not as smooth but it’s full of nice flavours. It’s not my favourite out of the two but it’s a close second.
The Viña Tarapacá Gran Reserva Carmenére 2017
My personal favourite, the Carmenére is not only going to be a great choice for a dinner party, but it’s also one that you will want to pour heavy for yourself and your loved one if there are a couple of wines on the table. It’s a beautifully dark, with hints of dark chocolate and almost has a subtle nudge of wood smoke. It’s very flavourful and something on my shelf very soon.
Bringing Viña Tarapacá To Dinner
The beautiful night was curated by the food of Chef Carl Henrich of Richmond Station, a restaurant in Toronto. The food brought together everything that really brings out and compliments that red wine flavour.
Hen of the woods, truffling cheese, walnut pangratatto.
Duo of Organic, Grass-Fed Beef
Charred cabbage, gladstone onion, koginut squash, pickled turnip.
Chocolate & Hazelnuts
Dark chocolate brownie, salted caramel ice cream, hazelnut ganache, and cocoa nib tuile.
The dinner was beautiful, as you can see, and the wines paired really nice with the crunch of the light pasta, grain-fed beef, and the chocolatey dessert. It added a full 360 experience, almost a full tasting ambiance that matched well with the beautifully set table.
The Bottom Line
If you are looking for a beautifully deep red wine perfect for a dinner party for you or others to enjoy, be sure to put one of these reds on the table. You will get looks towards the glasses, people asking to see the bottle, and a long, savory, flavourful pair of red wines that will elevate the complimenting warming, comfort food.
