Hands-On With Hamilton’s Dune: Part Two Inspired Ventura Collection

Hamilton brings Denis Villeneuve’s futuristic concept to life with their new collection of limited-edition watches.

In a collaboration with Dune: Part Two’s Prop Master, Doug Harlocker, Hamilton saw an opportunity to bring an inspired version of this Fremen device to life.

Continuing the futuristic collection comes in two models Ventura XXL Bright Dune and the Ventura Edge Dune Limited Edition.

A button on the side activates a feature not usually found in your standard watch. It powers this luminous shine of blue which references the vibrant blue eyes of the Fremen people in the film.

The watches come with commemorative packaging inspired by Dune: Part Two, which collectors and fans of the series (and original series) should be all over.

Getting Hands-On With The New Hamilton Ventura Dune Collection

Last night, I was invited by Hamilton to attend their event on the 19th floor of the Ritz-Carlton Toronto to learn more and see these modern, cinematic continuations in person.

The futuristic collection starts with the Ventura XXL Bright Dune Limited Edition. I love how this watch is almost a hybrid between ultra-modern and traditional functions of a watch. It has the same eye-catching blue accents with the light-up feature, however, the time is shown more in an analog way.

I am on the larger wrist size. Typically sporting 42mm watches. This model is a bit larger compared to the Ventura Edge Dune and I like the size and especially the weight. The wear suits me and analog design as more of my speed.

The Ventura Edge Dune limited edition continues the collection, showcasing more of a resemblance to the prop worn in the movie.

The distinctive angularly designed timepiece bears a mat-black PVD-coated angular case. The dial imitates the relief elements we can see on the prop in the film.

If you are into Hamilton’s other digital or you are coming from a current digital watch, this is a very nice and contemporary piece to upgrade to that will catch a lot of attention.

The Bottom Line: Hamilton Brings A Futuristic Look To Their Ventura Dune Collection

The visionary director Denis Villeneuve created a world that hardly seems tangible in our day-to-day lives. Almost seems out of reach with his recent masterpiece, Dune: Part Two. However, it’s very cool to see a continuation of something we can grasp that is more than an action figure when it comes to big cinematic hits.

Hamilton continues its love of film, movie props and bringing films to life that we can wear daily.

The Hamilton Ventura Dune Collection gives a bit of flexibility on pricing between the two models, but what it does too is give incredible wrist presence that will garner attention, looks and questions.

What I personally and particularly like about the collection of watches is it creates an IYKYK situation that doesn’t scream collaboration where it’s so obvious and spelled out. It’s subtle, interesting and modern.

Thank you to Hamilton and Drawbox Design for their lovely invitation to come see these futuristic timepieces.
