Salvatore Ferragamo To Make It’s 2nd Entrance Into The Canadian Marketplace
[A] name that comes synonymous with luxury is the legendary Italian born Salvatore Ferragamo. Born into a family of 14, a young Salvatore discovered his passion for shoes at the tender age of nine, eventually making his way to Naples to study the craft of shoemaking. After a year of studies he returned home to open a tiny shop in his parent’s home. He ended up immigrating to Boston a few years later, where one of his brothers was working in a cowboy boot factory. This was when Salvatore would convince his brothers to move to California, where he opened up a shop for repair and made to measure shoes. Shortly after opening, major celebrities began taking notice and the rest is history.His creative visions and scientific approach to shoes spawned major fashion innovations such as the wedge and cage heel. Although he passed at the age of 62, his name lives through his family and in every household. His international company has now expanded to include bags, eyewear, watches, perfumes and a ready-to-wear clothing line.
This will mark the second Canadian store for the brand – the first being in Vancouver – and will no doubt cause quite a stir. The shoes we all know and love, including the newest caged heels and patent leather pumps donning the famous Ferragamo bow, will be offered as well as a bevy of calf leather and python arm candy to set you off in style.
The womens Spring collection is mainly centered on super luxurious fabrications, predominant in leathers, exotic skins and cashmere under layering – something we can definitely get behind! The mens collection brings to us to the opposite side, with a colorful spectrum full of oranges, blues and yellows and gives the sports trend of Spring ’13 a serious run for its money.
The Bottom Line
With Salvatore’s story foreshadowing the craftsmanship and heritage that Ferragamo will bring to the new Yorkdale store, it’s sure to be a terrific shopping destination. This marks the second Ferragamo store, which means the company is believing in the Canadian market for their products. The fabrics and beautiful and classic designs make this store one of the ones to watch. We are really looking forward to stepping into the Ferragamo experience.
