Marqués de Riscal Wines Are Great For Elevating Your Evening Zoom Chats

Are you looking to take a staycation to northern Spain? Enjoy some Rioja-based wine and looking to expand your wine knowledge a little further.

Take a trip (to the LCBO) and pick up Marqués de Riscal, a Spanish bodega putting out some delicious reds and whites.

Cultivated from the limestone and clay soil of the mountainous regions make for some complexities that you just won’t find in the Niagara region.

For over 160 years, Marqués de Riscal has been creating some outstanding wine. It’s a multi-award winning winery that has a delicious product line that has clearly stood the test of time with its quality and commitment to winemaking.

If you want to make a night of it, you can order a box of lunch or dinner, to be prepared in under 20-40 minutes for a multi-course meal that just needs to be heated up from Eatertainment.

We had a lovely little Zoom meeting with the infamous Angela Aiello, aka SuperWineGirl, taking us through the different wines, while representatives from Marqués de Riscal jumped in with some facts from the region.

Now, with all this talking about the reds and whites, let’s talk wine profiles.

Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva

Tasting profiles:

You can expect a spicy red, with some dark fruit flavours, some toastiness from the oak barrels, and woody finish. In short, it’s a smoooooth, full-body red.

Price: $26.60

Perfect for dinner and evening drinks with some red meats and hearty vegetables.

Marqués de Riscal Rueda DO

For this Rueda, you can expect a lower price point than the Spanish red and with the verdejo grapes that make up the wine, look for more of a light and crisp flavour profile. Diving deeper into this wine, expect aromas and flavours of citrus, peachy and flower-like tastes that round out this light-bodied wine.

Price: $14.95

Perfect for a light, sunny weekend afternoon with a Spanish paella dish.

The Bottom Line

Thank you so much for hosting me for this lovely lunchtime wine and food tasting, View the VIBE and Marqués de Riscal. As always, thank you for taking us through the wines, Angela Aiello, and for the lovely Spanish themed food, Eatertainment that all came in a lovely little package!
