The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica: One Of The Last Of Its Kind

The one thing that I didn’t expect to write about is the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica. I thought I would continue to write about high-powered supercars like it would never end. But, just like how everything progresses, technology in cars must progress too. Most likely, this brand new Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica is one of the last of its kind. It’s one of the last naturally aspirated V10 cars ever created by Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica is the natural progression and combination of the RWD V10, sitting perfectly between the Huracán RWD and the track-focused Huracán STO, developed for pilots seeking driving fun and lifestyle perfection on both the road and track.

The Lamborghini Head of Design, Mitja Borket, will be available to discuss with the media the key design inspiration behind the flawless lines of the Huracán Tecnica.

Few cars are as exciting as a Lamborghini. They wow while moving or standing still. They are built for beauty, boldness and fun on and off the road and track. When it comes to new supercars, this Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica is an architected, automotive admiration.

Enter The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica

I had an opportunity to see the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica in Toronto, have a hand-on experience and have the chance to speak with Lamborghini’s automotive designer and chief engineer, Mitja Borket.

The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica Exterior

Lamborghini cars are renowned for their big, bold, angular, fighter jet-inspired designs. The Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica feels one step above that. You can tell they have subtracted more of the initial shape and added more of a curated and refined experience. They have injected more

When speaking to Borket about the design. He had endless interesting things to say about the car. He mentioned that if the car exploded out into all separated, singular parts, he wanted every piece to be able to hang up on a wall like a piece of artwork. With that one comment, you can tell Borket’s depth and contemplation that goes into designing such global icons.

One of my favourite aspects of Mitja Borket’s work as the Head of Design for the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica is his use of contrasting details for this car. When you take a look at the front of the car, he uses the blacked-out parts of the carbon fibre body with the vibrant green colour to shape the car how he pleases, to give that floating, jet-like design on the road.

The side of the car continues where the front boldly started. The driving lines seemingly push air toward the top of the car, spoiler and bottom of the car subsequently. It’s low, it’s angled to be a performance car and its profile is exciting to look at.

The back of the car is one of the other design statements made with the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica. You will see that the back cuts off pretty high up on the back tire. That is from a design inspired by the back tire of racing motorcycles. The more exposed tire with the angular section above it. I think this is one of the biggest design differences when it comes to the other Huracán cars in the line-up and shows a more refined and thoughtful design toward a racing experience. Well done.

Most of the back of the car is filled with that contrasting black as the green shapes the back of the car nicely driving the eyes to the spoiler.

Overall, it’s one of my favourite Lamborghini supercars ever designed.

You can tell the interior is more driver-focused as soon as you get in. It feels like the whole cockpit is derived from having the best possible experience for the driver. Carbon fibre accents are found throughout the interior with hits of the same continued colours as the exterior of the car.

Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica Driving

The materials feel very premium with Lamborghini and Huracán branding carefully stitched in, embedded and plated throughout the interior. They easily could have put in stiff, carbon fibre racing seats and I would be happy, but they decided to keep the experience both sporty and comfortable for more of an everyday car.
